Why is recovery important?

People often overlook the importance of recovering properly after training or competing. Your muscles contain energy (glycogen) stores that are used up when exercising and need refilling. Protein is also broken down and depleted. Replacing these nutrients is vital to speeding up the recovery process, so you can repair quickly and start again stronger than before.


How does Science in Sport Recovery products work? 

Recovery nutrition works best in the 30-60 minute window immediately after working out, especially if consuming REGO Rapid or REGO Clear Recovery.

Our REGO Recovery powders contain added vitamins and minerals to help you meet your recommended daily intake. We would not recommend consuming more than three shakes a day.

REGO Whey Protein follows the same guidelines but can be used to supplement your daily protein intake.

If you’re injured, REGO Collagen is a wonderful source of vitamin C that supports the normal function of your bones and cartilage. Take one shot 60 minutes after exercise, and an additional shot a day during the injury period.

REST + RECOVER is a daily supplement to encourage better sleep. Take one 30 minutes before your bedtime to feel the best results.

REGO Cherry Juice should be taken twice daily in the week leading up to an event, and then for 2-3 days after to help your recovery. You can also have a single sachet immediately after exercise.


How long does it take for my body to recover after exercise?

It can take up to 24 hours to recover, but this number may be different based on the intensity of your workout. Getting your macronutrients is key, alongside quality rest and recovery time. Some steps for good recovery following an intense session are: focus on protein intake, get a good night’s sleep, and ensure sufficient hydration.


Does sleep impact recovery? 

Absolutely - in fact, it’s critical! When you increase your load during training, it’s sleep that aids in recovery and growing muscle strength.

Aim to get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night to enhance performance, support mental resilience, and, most importantly, reduce the risk of injury. 

You sleep best when you establish a consistent schedule and relaxing routine; block out light, especially from screens, at least 30 minutes before sleep to encourage your melatonin.
