Science in Sport Beta Fuel has been developed to deliver the maximum amount of carbohydrate in a 2:1 ratio, so to limit gastrointestinal distress.
The product mixed to concentration is 80 grams carbohydrate (2:1 maltodextrin:fructose), 20 mmol/L sodium and 500 ml of fluid per serving.
- • 2:1 ratio maltodextrin:fructose
- • 80g total carbohydrates
- • Isotonic
- • pH neutral
- • Natural flavors and sweetener
- • Added Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium
Mix one serving (84 g) of Beta Fuel with 500 ml of fluid and drink little & often during exercise to meet fueling requirements.
A rate limiting factor of exogenous carbohydrate utilization during exercise is the transportation of the nutrients across the intestinal wall. Once the sodium-dependent transporter, used to transport maltodextrin, is saturated at 60 g.h additional carbohydrate can be absorbed through another transporter, GLUT5, used to transport fructose.
Fuelling requirements for long endurance events (greater than 2.5 hours) are 60-90 g of carbohydrate per hour. The ability to deliver such high levels of carbohydrate with minimized risk of GI issues is crucial to performance. Beta Fuel can be used to meet these fuelling demands in an isotonic solution.

Why 2:1 now for Science in Sport?
2:1 ratio sports drinks aren’t new; however, historically they’re delivered in hypertonic solutions meaning a high risk of stomach upsets which is why we’ve avoided as a brand. Now, following a development cycle alongside Team Sky, 2018 Giro D’Italia Winners, Beta Fuel is a breakthrough technology delivering the optimal dosage of carbohydrates while maintaining an isotonic solution.
Is Beta Fuel isotonic?
Yes, when mixed to concentration (one 84 g sachet in 500 ml water) Beta Fuel is Isotonic.
How does Beta Fuel compare to other 2:1 sports drinks?
Each 500ml serving of Beta Fuel provides 80% more carbohydrate than High5 Energy Drink and 2.5 times more energy than Torq Energy Drink
How should I mix Beta Fuel?
Mix one serving (84 g) of Beta Fuel with 500 ml of fluid. No complicated directions, our drink isn’t limited by a need to use a specific type of water like other niche brands, simply mix & go.

I was able to test this during a run. I purposely waited to be hungry before my run and it worked perfectly.
need to try that one but looking forward
High carb count, but pretty sweet and viscous.
The flavor is crap! I eat all kind of nasty things though I think even if I could win Le Tour I would not be able to choke down 6 bottles of this stuff in a day... I typically do not have problems eating and drinking on the bike...
Great taste, no GI issues, easy to use
Awesome , great product, a superior edge
Great product for long rides
I am satisfied and likely to use again!
Incredible product, went on a hundred mile ride with only two bottles no food. No hunger feeling or cramps. Very impressive will definitely be using it for the harder road races.
