A leader in endurance sports nutrition, Science in Sport also leads the way for clean sport with its world-class banned substance testing programme. Science in Sport will provide energy, hydration and recovery products, along with world-class knowledge to all British Cycling athletes. Take a look below at the need states for each British Cycling athlete, along with the products that will help meet their nutritional demands.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/external\/257163485.hd.mp4?s=d63f9109423929d0c33aae15efb25ef1ea531d09&amp;profile_id=174\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Need State &#8211; Energy<\/h3>\n<p>When it comes to performance, British Cycling knows that carbohydrate is king. With different athlete and event needs, gels and bars will be used before and during rides to fuel winning performances. Caffeine gels are also available to provide mental stimulation to the riders, decreasing the perception of fatigue. Whether carbohydrate loading before a tough track event or fuelling during a long endurance ride, GO Gels and bars provide high GI carbohydrates for fast absorption and energy.<\/p>\n<h4>Key Products<\/h4>\n<p><strong>GO Isotonic Energy Gel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The worlds first Isotonic energy gel, this product is designed to digest rapidly to get to the riders muscles fast. This gel provides 22g of carbohydrate, without the need to taken with water.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GO Energy Bar:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Very popular in cycling, this makes the ideal snack for fuelling and preparing for long rides. GO Bars are hand rolled, made from oats, fruits and maltodextrin, providing a great source of carbohydrates.<\/p>\n<h3>Need State &#8211; Hydration<\/h3>\n<p>During intense rides British Cycling riders sweat and with this they lose electrolytes. Fluid and electrolytes need replacing or the athlete will become dehydrated . As little as a 2% reduction in body mass due to sweat loss can cause dehydration, which is associated with an increase in heart rate and body temperature. This can decrease concentration and overall performance. GO Hydro and GO Electrolyte are used before and during rides to optimise hydration<\/p>\n<h4>Key Products<\/h4>\n<p><strong>GO Electrolyte:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With 36g of carbohydrate and electrolytes, GO Electrolyte gives riders the opportunity to hit both energy and hydration goals. This will be used before and during rides and used in combination with GO gels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GO Hydro:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ultimate low calorie hydration drink, GO Hydro provides the body with an optimal 30 mmol\/L of sodium needed for hydration. As a convenient effervescent tablet, this will be dissolved in water and used before, during and after rides.<\/p>\n<h3>Need State &#8211; Recovery<\/h3>\n<p>The aim of recovery is to make the most out of training, increase adaptations and be ready to train again with minimal fatigue. During high intensity rides, the athletes will use available glycogen stores. This must be replaced, along with essential electrolytes that are lost through sweat to prepare the body to go again. Fast digesting protein must also be consumed to help riders rebuild muscle fibres and reduce muscle breakdown, fuelling adaptations.<\/p>\n<h4>Key Product<\/h4>\n<p><strong>REGO Rapid Recovery:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first recovery formula, REGO provides 20g of protein, 22g of carbohydrates and electrolytes. Riders will use REGO post ride to replace energy stores and help rebuild damaged muscle<\/p>\n<h3>Need State &#8211; Rebuild<\/h3>\n<p>Whether in the gym or on the bike, British Cycling need to take in a high quality protein source to fuel adaptations and muscle rebuild. The Science in Sport protein range includes a variety of whey proteins (concentrate, isolate, hydrolysate) with a full amino acid profile to help initiate and maintain muscle protein synthesis (the process of old muscle rebuild). The efficient protein synthesis is, the faster muscles are able to rebuild and adapt to a stimulus. Rebuild products will be used through the riders&#8217; day and immediately post exercise.<\/p>\n<h4>Key Products<\/h4>\n<p><strong>WHEY20:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ready to go in your kitbag, with no shaker or water needed, WHEY20 is a low carb and high protein snack that tastes like a flavoured yogurt. With 20g of protein and 7g of BCAAs per serving, this will help to support the growth &amp; maintenance of lean muscle mass.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overnight Protein:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Made from milk protein, Overnight protein is a slow digesting protein source that can help &#8216;rebuild&#8217; muscles while you sleep.
