The Giro d’Italia has arrived, the first Grand Tour of the year, the ultimate test of endurance. A race that the INEOS Grenadiers have been triumphant at in recent years, taking back-to-back wins in 2020, 2021 and the runners-up spot last year. This year the Giro will put the riders to the test once again. With three weeks of racing in store, covering over 3,489km and more than 51,000 metres of elevation gain, the Grenadiers are going to need all the energy they can get. Luckily, we know exactly what their favourites are, so learn how to fuel like a pro and find out a little more about this year’s rider line-up. Tao Geoghegan Hart From working in a bike shop and selling Science in Sport (SiS) to using it en route to a memorable win here in 2020, Tao’s story in the Giro is nothing short of incredible. Tackling the race again for the first time since that win, Tao will be looking for those Beta Fuel gels in the bottom of his musette. Geraint Thomas With a Tour de France win to his name from 2018, ‘G’ knows how to endure racing over three weeks. Having been fuelled by Science in Sport for countless years it is no wonder that the secret to the longevity of his success might be to do with his enjoyment of SiS REGO Rapid Recovery. Ben Swift A wise head within the team, and a former British Champion, Ben is always alert, guiding the main protagonists to the fore when the time is right. It makes sense then that his favourite gel is BETA Fuel Nootropics. Thymen Arensman The youngest on the team, Thymen is an exciting addition for the Grenadiers, riding his first Grand Tour with the team and coming off the back of a top-10 at the Vuelta a Espana last year, we cannot wait to see what progress he makes now he is fuelled by his favourite Lemon Energy Bakes. Filippo Ganna Top Ganna, had an emphatic start to racing the Giro in 2020, picking up a hat-trick of stages and just like 2020 Ganna is eyeing up the first stage Time Trial with the help of his favourite BETA Fuel Chews before heading off down the ramp. Laurens De Plus Having not ridden a Grand Tour for a couple of years, Laurens will undoubtedly be bringing all the energy as he returns to the three-week stage racing in Italy. He’ll be looking out for his favourite Beta Fuel Gels to keep him going through those long stages! Salvatore Puccio Having been with the team for 12 years Salvatore knows how to deliver. You can expect the highest quality from the Italian, just like his favourite SiS product the GO Energy Bake in Tiramisu flavour of course. Pavel Sivakov Another member of the team who knows what it takes to race hard over the three weeks, Pavel earned a top-ten finish at the Giro in 2019 and will be hoping to help the team on more successes this year. We’ve no doubt his back pockets will be full of some GO Energy Bakes to help him on the way. Now you know a little more about this year’s INEOS line-up for the Giro, you can also find their favourite SiS products by heading to our cycling hub and shopping their preferred energy choices right now. The team is looking strong, and they have what it takes to beat the bunch. Written By The Performance Solutions Team
