In a previous life Nick played American football professionally before becoming a secondary school teacher. Nowadays he works as a freelance copywriter where amongst other things he gets to write about his first love – sports. In his spare time, he lifts weights, plays and coaches baseball (which he calls his retirement sport), and travels with his wife to as many countries as he can.

Julia runs her own marketing consultancy, working with businesses and non-profits in education, nutrition, fitness and the arts. She also teaches a blend of HIIT and Pilates she developed and is an avid indoor cyclist. Julia is an advocate of effective altruism and believes in the power of sport to change lives.

Dr Marlon Moncrieffe is an expert in teaching and learning through theories of critical multicultural education. Moncrieffe is leader in the field on research into the history of minority-ethnic group participation in competitive cycling in Britain. His groundbreaking race education work entitled ‘Made in Britain: Uncovering the life-histories of Black-British Champions in Cycling’ has won wide acclaim for illuminating issues of racial inequality, mono-ethnic representation and the need for broader inclusion and diversity.
