FUELLING YOUR SPRINT
Sprint triathlons demand everything in 90 minutes. Your muscles are burning through carbohydrate stores from the moment you hit the water. Yet most athletes line up without a fuelling strategy, and pay for it in the final kilometres.
HYDRO+
Mixed with water, it replaces sodium and key electrolytes lost through sweat, supporting fluid absorption and maintaining performance.
GO ISOTONIC ENERGY GEL
Delivers 22g of single-source carbohydrate in an isotonic solution. No water mixing required.
GO ENERGY + CAFFEINE GEL
Delivers 22g of carbohydrate with 75mg caffeine. Dose varies by individual tolerance: start with 75mg in training; advanced athletes may use 150mg.
REGO CLEAR RECOVERY

PREPARING FOR A SPRINT
when carbohydrate availability drops, so does your power, your pace, and your decision-making. The difference between a controlled sprint finish and one that unravels? Science-backed nutrition timed precisely to when your body needs it most.
This pack contains a proven race protocol built on three principles: (1) fuel when digestion is possible, (2) peak caffeine effect at the moment of highest fatigue, (3) support consistent power from swim to finish. Follow this strategy in training first. Trust it on race day.
FUELLING YOUR TRIATHLON
Sprint triathlons are fast and intense, making a simple fuelling strategy key to performance.
- Start with 500ml of SiS HYDRO+ 120 minutes before the race.
- Then fuel with a SiS GO Isotonic Energy Gel before the swim.
- Use a SiS GO Energy + Caffeine Gel at the start of the bike and another isotonic gel midway through the bike.
- Finally use a isotonic gel at the start of the run, alongside regular SiS HYDRO+ intake.
Eat a carb-heavy meal around 2.5-3 hours before a recovery ride, with around ~20g of protein included. If you do this, you shouldn’t need to have any additional carbs during the ride instead.

Sprint triathlons are raced at a high intensity from start to finish. With limited opportunities to fuel during the event, starting well hydrated and maintaining carbohydrate availability can help support performance across the swim, bike and run.

WHEN TO USE YOUR FUEL
Practising your race-day nutrition strategy in training is non-negotiable. Sprint triathlon's high-intensity nature means intense exercise reduces gut blood flow, impairing absorption and increasing gastrointestinal discomfort if you're using unfamiliar products on race day.


WHY SPRINT FUELLING REQUIRES PRACTICE
During high-intensity training sessions, your gut processes carbohydrates efficiently. You're not just testing flavours; you're training your digestive system to absorb fuel while your heart rate is elevated, your muscles are burning, and your attention is
split across three disciplines. Start incorporating your race-day gel + hydration strategy into high-intensity bike and run sessions at least 4 weeks before race day. Your gut's adaptation timeline is your performance edge. Skip this, and race day becomes an experiment. Do this, and you finish strong.
THE IMPORTANCE OF CAFFEINE
Caffeine is one of the most well-researched ergogenic aids in sport. Research consistently demonstrates its ability to reduce perceived effort and delay fatigue during high-intensity endurance exercise.


THE STRATEGIC USE OF CAFFEINE
For sprint triathlon, timing is everything. Consuming a caffeine gel at the bike start allows 30–45 minutes for plasma caffeine levels to peak, meaning its effects are most pronounced during the latter stages of the run, precisely when fatigue is greatest. This targeted approach ensures you benefit from caffeine's performance-enhancing properties at the exact point in the race where they're most needed.
Critical: Caffeine response varies by individual. During training, test your tolerance and identify your optimal dose (75mg or 150mg). Determine the timing window that matches your race pace. What works for your training partner may not work for you. Use training to get this right before race day.
