FUELLING DISTANCE TRIATHLON
Standard distance triathlon is a 180-minute test of sustained power. You're burning through your glycogen stores across three disciplines: swim, bike, and run. Getting your carbohydrate strategy right isn't optional. It's the single most important variable you can control on race day. This pack gives you the system to do it.
BETA FUEL ENERGY GEL
40g of dual-source carbohydrate (fructose + glucose, optimised in a 1:0.8 ratio) to
support carbohydrate oxidation rates of 80–90g per hour when combined with BETA Chews.
BETA FUEL ENERGY CHEW
Delivers 45g of dual-source carbohydrate in the same 1:0.8 fructose-to-glucose ratio as BETA Gel.
BETA FUEL ENERGY + NOOTROPICS GEL
Delivers 40g dual-source carbohydrate plus 75mg caffeine and L-theanine.
SiS BETA RECOVERY
Provides 60g of dual-source carbohydrates alongside 30g whey protein. 2:1 carb-to-protein ratio scientifically proven to accelerate muscle repair and glycogen repletion.
- Vitamin B1 & B2 contribute to carbohydrate conversion
- Vitamin B6 aids protein metabolism.
10KM NUTRITION STRATEGY
EXPECTED FINISH TIME ~60 MINUTES

180 MINUTE RACE PROTOCOL
The 180-minute challenge: you need 80–90g of carbohydrate per hour to sustain power across swim, bike, and run. Dual-source fuelling is the only way to achieve this. Here's your strategy, step by step.
This pack contains a proven race protocol built on three principles: (1) fuel when digestion is possible, (2) peak caffeine effect at the moment of highest fatigue, (3) support consistent power from swim to finish. Follow this strategy in training first. Trust it on race day.
FUELLING YOUR TRIATHLON
Standard distance triathlons place greater demands on your energy and hydration stores, making a structured fuelling strategy essential.
- Start with 500ml of SiS HYDRO+ 120 minutes before the race.
- Then fuel with a SiS BETA Fuel Energy Gel before the swim.
- During the bike, alternate between SiS BETA Fuel Chews and Gels every 20 minutes, including a SiS BETA Fuel Energy + Nootropics at 60 minutes.
- Finally use a BETA fUEL Energy Gel at the start of the run, followed by a final gel 20 minutes later.
- Complete your recovery with a serving of BETA Recovery within 30 minutes of finishing.
Eat a carb-heavy meal around 2.5-3 hours before a recovery ride, with around ~20g of protein included. If you do this, you shouldn’t need to have any additional carbs during the ride instead.
*Caffeine help to increase alertness

10KM FUELLING GUIDE
Expert fuelling strategies for training and race day
HOW TO TRAIN WITH NUTRITION
Start incorporating your race-day gel + hydration strategy into high-intensity bike and run
sessions at least 4 weeks before race day. Your gut's adaptation timeline is your performance edge. Skip this, and race day becomes an experiment. Do this, and you finish strong.
6. Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
7. Vitamin B6 & B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
WHEN TO USE YOUR FUEL
Practising your race-day nutrition strategy in training is non-negotiable. Sprint triathlon's high-intensity nature means intense exercise reduces gut blood flow, impairing absorption and increasing gastrointestinal discomfort if you're using unfamiliar products on race day.

WHY DISTANCE FUELLING REQUIRES PRACTICE
Regularly consuming your planned nutrition, gels and electrolytes during high-intensity training sessions conditions your gut to process carbohydrates efficiently
under race conditions. You're not just testing flavours; you're training your digestive system to absorb fuel while your heart rate is elevated, your muscles are burning, and your attention is split across three disciplines.
THE IMPORTANCE OF CAFFEINE
Caffeine is one of the most well-researched ergogenic aids in sport. Research consistently demonstrates its ability to reduce perceived effort and delay fatigue during high-intensity endurance exercise.

THE STRATEGIC USE OF CAFFEINE
For sprint triathlon, timing is everything. Consuming a caffeine gel at the bike start allows 30–45 minutes for plasma caffeine levels to peak, meaning its effects are most pronounced during the latter stages of the run, precisely when fatigue is greatest. This targeted approach ensures you benefit from caffeine's performance-enhancing properties at the exact point in the race where they're most needed.
Critical: Caffeine response varies by individual. During training, test your tolerance and identify your optimal dose (75mg or 150mg). Determine the timing window that matches your race pace. What works for your training partner may not work for you. Use training to get this right before race day.
