Exercise capacity and performance is often reduced when exercising in hot conditions due to both elevated physiological strain and feelings of thermal discomfort.
One of the main contributors to the early onset of fatigue in hot environments is enhanced feelings of discomfort and a perception of being hot and uncomfortable. With this in mind, Turbo+ Powder is formulated with menthol extract to improve the ability to tolerate such heat stress by reducing thermal perception through the refreshing and cooling sensations that menthol evokes.
Through these mechanisms, menthol consumption during exercise makes it easier to breathe and results in improvements in both time trial and time to exhaustion exercise performance.
Exercise in the heat also increases the reliance on carbohydrate as a fuel. The combination of menthol and carbohydrate therefore provides both a cooling and energy benefit. The rinse and drink strategy for Turbo+ Powders is also beneficial given that carbohydrate stimulates receptors within the mouth which have a stimulatory effect on the central nervous system (CNS) and ultimately enhances exercise performance.

This is an interesting concept and one I feel SIS have really done well, the menthol is always going to be a marmite issue, I happen to like it so my score reflects that. The blueberry flavour could be stronger and this isn't some magic wand that stops you sweating but I feel the results in 20/30 minute indoor trainer videos are worth it, I do feel like I sweat a bit less and that I can have a shower after and not come out still sweating, so to that end I would buy it again. I am a hot rider and even with a gym fan, open windows and towel I get very sweaty on the turbo so this is a welcome addition.
Nice refreshing taste that the mint leaves in your mouth
This product works, but for me the menthol taste is just not for me, but thats just a personal thing, if you like menthol you'll love it.
I tried this product for the first time, no complaints.
Sorry guys the menthol didn’t work for me, felt like I was eating a packet of cough sweets. I like the innovation but I will stick with GO Energy.
Love this product, use on every ride. Has made a massive improvement to indoor performance levels.
Nice and cool after taste. Worth a go!
Unsure about this item
My review for the blueberry version is much the same as this flavour in terms of effect but for me this flavour itself is awful - really did not like the taste. I used it on a 20 minute spin/turbo session and I think it did a good job but maybe a 30 minute one is needed for the full effect and to drink the 500ml over the course of the session. The problem is that I can't stand the flavour. I experimented with a 500ml mix of this with 500ml of water with a tab of something else and the flavour was then palatable but lost some of the cooling effect over a 50 minute spin. The score reflects my personal taste not the product itself which I think does a good job, if you like citrus mixes (particularly from SIS) then I imagine you'll really enjoy this
I've tested this for the first time on the new Mont Ventoux route during the virtual TDF. I'm not convinced yet. The cooling effect of the menthol was there, without a doubt. It was comparable to the feeling a very minty chewing gum could give you. Both in your mouth and lungs. However, it felt like breathing wasn't as comfortable (if it even could since Ventoux) compared to using the normal SIS hydro. The taste of gels and bars was also a bit minty. I tried it outside too, during a less intense ride but on a pretty warm day and I kinda enjoyed it more. It feels like the taste didn't linger as much, perhaps due to a lesser dry mouth. I'm not convinced yet.
Very nice, different taste but works well
