    FUELLING YOUR MATCH

Football is not a steady-state sport. It is 90 minutes of repeated high-intensity sprints, decelerations and changes of direction, layered over a continuous aerobic base. Every one of those actions draws on your muscle glycogen stores, and once those stores run low, the cost is measurable: slower sprint recovery, reduced power in the final 15 minutes, and slower decision-making at exactly the moment matches are won and lost.

    HYDRO+

Mixed with water, HYDRO+ delivers 1,576mg of electrolytes per serving, including sodium, the primary electrolyte lost in sweat.

    GO ISOTONIC ENERGY GEL

Delivers 22g of single-source carbohydrate in an isotonic solution; no water mixing required.

    GO ENERGY + CAFFEINE GEL

A concentrated caffeine shot, taken before kickoff or at half-time depending on your tolerance and the demands of the match.

    SiS PREMIUM BOOT BAG

A durable, dedicated bag for boots, kit and fuel in one place.

    1. Vitamin B1 & B2 contribute to carbohydrate conversion
    2. Vitamin B6 aids protein metabolism.

THE 90-MINUTE BATTLE FOR CARBOHYDRATE AND CONCETRATION

Here's the reality most players miss: a top-level footballer can cover 10–13km in a match, with the majority of decisive actions (sprints, tackles, shots) clustered into the periods when fatigue is already highest. Research on team-sport performance consistently shows that high-intensity running distance declines in the second half when carbohydrate availability falls. The players who fade are rarely less fit, they are under-fuelled.

This pack is built on three principles: (1) start the match already hydrated and fuelled, so you are not playing catch-up; (2) maintain carbohydrate availability across both halves to protect second-half sprint output; (3) time caffeine so concentration and perceived effort are supported when the match is decided. Train with it first. Trust it on match day.

    FUELLING FOR A MATCH

    1. Start with 500ml of SiS HYDRO+ in water about 90 minutes before the match.
    2. Take 1x SiS GO Isotonic Energy Gel around 15-30 minutes before the match. This will give your muscles energy and saves your stored fuel for later.
    3. Take a concentrated shot, either before kick-off or at half-time depending on your tolerance and the demands of the match
    4. As half time arrives, tale 1x SiS GO Isotonic Energy Gel and a few mouthfuls of SiS HYDRO+. The gel will refuel you for the next 45 minutes and the HYDRO+ helps replace what you sweated out in the first half.
    5. During the second half, whenever play stops, drink SiS HYDRO+, this top up will keep your focus sharp for the final minutes when matches are decided.

Eat a carb-heavy meal around 2.5-3 hours before a recovery ride, with around ~20g of protein included. If you do this, you shouldn’t need to have any additional carbs during the ride instead.

    10KM FUELLING GUIDE

Expert fuelling strategies for training and race day

    HOW TO TRAIN WITH NUTRITION

The simple, no-guesswork way to fuel your football: hydration, energy and a bottle to carry them, built on SiS sport science. Start the season ready.

    6. Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.

    7. Vitamin B6 & B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

    MATCH-DAY NUTRITION STRATEGY

Before you line up, here's what you need to know: your match has four fuelling checkpoints. The opening fuel sets you up; miss the half-time top-up and the final 20 minutes compound that mistake. Get all four right, and you finish the match as strong as you started it.

    WHY MATCH FUELLING REQUIRES PRACTICE

Practising your match-day nutrition in training is non-negotiable. High-intensity exercise reduces blood flow to the gut, which impairs absorption and increases the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort if you introduce unfamiliar products on match day. The player who tries a new gel for the first time before an important fixture is running an experiment at the worst possible moment.

    THE STRATEGIC USE OF CAFFEINE

Caffeine is one of the most well-researched performance aids in sport. The evidence consistently shows it reduces perceived effort, delays fatigue, and supports concentration and reaction time during prolonged high-intensity exercise, all directly relevant to football's second-half demands.

    WHEN TO USE CAFFEINE?

For football, timing is the decision. A pre-kickoff dose supports focus through the opening exchanges; a half-time dose, peaking 30–60 minutes later, supports concentration and effort tolerance through the period when matches are most often won and lost. Choose the window that fits how the match is unfolding and how you respond as an individual.
