About Turbo+ Powder

Turbo+ Powder is an isotonic carbohydrate energy drink containing 62g carbohydrate combined with menthol extract. This unique blend of carbohydrate and menthol is designed to meet in-session fuelling requirements whilst also helping to reduce the increased thermal stress that occurs with indoor turbo training sessions. Turbo+ Powder is designed to be used as a mouth rinse and drink strategy at regular intervals during exercise to exert its maximum benefit.

To understand the science behind our Turbo+ range, check out our blog here.

Suggested Use

Exercise capacity and performance is often reduced when exercising in hot conditions due to both elevated physiological strain and feelings of thermal discomfort.

One of the main contributors to the early onset of fatigue in hot environments is enhanced feelings of discomfort and a perception of being hot and uncomfortable. With this in mind, Turbo+ Powder is formulated with menthol extract to improve the ability to tolerate such heat stress by reducing thermal perception through the refreshing and cooling sensations that menthol evokes.

Through these mechanisms, menthol consumption during exercise makes it easier to breathe and results in improvements in both time trial and time to exhaustion exercise performance.

Exercise in the heat also increases the reliance on carbohydrate as a fuel. The rinse and drink strategy for Turbo+ Powders is also beneficial given that carbohydrate stimulates receptors within the mouth which have a stimulatory effect on the central nervous system (CNS) and ultimately enhances exercise performance.

Directions For Use

Add Turbo+ Powder to 500 ml of cold water and shake well. At regular 5-10 minute intervals during exercise, rinse 25-50 ml of Turbo+ Powder solution around the mouth for 5-10 seconds and then swallow.

Warning: Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Food Supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet.

Great when overheating

Great product

Great idea, and the mix of carb and electrolyte work well - just not a fan of the menthol... would definitely invest in more of this if there wasn’t the menthol.

Absolutely amazing product. You can bring your energy in a sec

Was very surprised how well this works when on the Turbo

Nick lees

Had my doubts about this, but surprised how well it works for me, certainly refreshing if you follow the instruction and swill it in the mouth for a few seconds before swallowing. The Menthol flavour will not be to everyones taste but I like it and will continue to use it when I am on the turbo. Obviously more expensive than the standard Electrolyte powders but for me its worth it.

Wanted to like it but tastes like drinking mouthwash. Makes you feel cool but I couldn’t stomach it after about half a bottle!

Ideal for indoor training, easy to use and take.

I prefer the powder to the gel with the same flavour.

Andy Bemand

Works really well.

A bit odd first time but am good with it now. Works well when on trainer, mix with other ingredients to suit.

Strong flavour, takes some use to get used to the methanol....

Another recent addition to my sons training supplements.... great product

This is an interesting concept and one I feel SIS have really done well, the menthol is always going to be a marmite issue, I happen to like it so my score reflects that. The blueberry flavour could be stronger and this isn't some magic wand that stops you sweating but I feel the results in 20/30 minute indoor trainer videos are worth it, I do feel like I sweat a bit less and that I can have a shower after and not come out still sweating, so to that end I would buy it again. I am a hot rider and even with a gym fan, open windows and towel I get very sweaty on the turbo so this is a welcome addition.

Nice refreshing taste that the mint leaves in your mouth

This product works, but for me the menthol taste is just not for me, but thats just a personal thing, if you like menthol you'll love it.

I tried this product for the first time, no complaints.

Sorry guys the menthol didn’t work for me, felt like I was eating a packet of cough sweets. I like the innovation but I will stick with GO Energy.

John Hanna

Love this product, use on every ride. Has made a massive improvement to indoor performance levels.

Great taste when dying of thirst

Odd at first but very addictive and refreshing must try

Works well, tastes amazing

I’m hoping this will aid my indoor training over the winter

Harty RA

A useful product that really does help you to feel cooler when indoor training, I would consider a lower concentrate the first use, just so it’s not as big a shock to the senses.

Chris Dean

This stuff really works. I must admit I was sceptical, but got given some for my birthday, and now use it regularly when on Zwift. Lovely cooling menthol taste.

Unsure about this item

My review for the blueberry version is much the same as this flavour in terms of effect but for me this flavour itself is awful - really did not like the taste. I used it on a 20 minute spin/turbo session and I think it did a good job but maybe a 30 minute one is needed for the full effect and to drink the 500ml over the course of the session. The problem is that I can't stand the flavour. I experimented with a 500ml mix of this with 500ml of water with a tab of something else and the flavour was then palatable but lost some of the cooling effect over a 50 minute spin. The score reflects my personal taste not the product itself which I think does a good job, if you like citrus mixes (particularly from SIS) then I imagine you'll really enjoy this

I've tested this for the first time on the new Mont Ventoux route during the virtual TDF. I'm not convinced yet. The cooling effect of the menthol was there, without a doubt. It was comparable to the feeling a very minty chewing gum could give you. Both in your mouth and lungs. However, it felt like breathing wasn't as comfortable (if it even could since Ventoux) compared to using the normal SIS hydro. The taste of gels and bars was also a bit minty. I tried it outside too, during a less intense ride but on a pretty warm day and I kinda enjoyed it more. It feels like the taste didn't linger as much, perhaps due to a lesser dry mouth. I'm not convinced yet.

Very nice, different taste but works well
