THE ROLE
This role is within the Technical Team to support all required quality assurance functions of the shift and to drive a culture of food safety and continuous improvement across SiS and PhD product ranges. The Quality Technician will work closely with their team across alternative shifts ensuring technical support is provided to the business.
This role is crucial as Science in Sport is the world’s leading performance nutrition brand, with over 330 elite athletes and teams relying on our products for success resulting in Olympic medals, Grand Tour wins, and Grand Slams.
With the business expanding their manufacturing capabilities through bringing the production of the Smart Bar range in-house and a new state of the art manufacturing facility, the purpose of a Quality Technician is ensuring internal and external quality standards are met at all levels, contributing to the business being a premium brand.

THE WORK - Your 4 most important tasks
• Ensuring the safety, quality and legality of all products produced on site through agreed processes and schedules
• Collecting and analysing product and microbiological samples, as well as recording data from analysis
• Maintaining the company’s ISO 22000 Quality Management System, as well as Work closely with other third-party certification bodies for sustainability, religious and ethical obligations
• Fostering a positive food safety and lean manufacturing culture throughout the production department, focusing on strong basic principles
ACCOUNTABILITY – what you are responsible for delivering
• Writing, interpreting, and putting into practice the organisation’s quality standards and procedures
• Carrying out daily on-site audits such as GMP & Brittle Materials
• To ensure all daily documentation is completed correctly and on time.
• Investigate complaints and incidents using root cause analyse techniques
• Positive release of finished products
• Working with other members of the technical team such as hygiene, compliance and SQA
CAPABILITY - the skills and behaviours required to do this job well
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control processes
• Food Safety, HACCP & GMP qualifications & experience
• Excellent Computer skills using word / excel and some basic software packages
• Excellent organisational and planning
• Previous experience operating, calibrating, and setting up of metal detectors and X-ray programs
• Identifying and implementing areas of improvement on both process and practices
PERFORMANCE – how you will know you are doing a great job
• Completion of all QA schedules on a daily/weekly and monthly basis
• Timely and accurate analysis of external lab results recorded and reported where necessary
• Daily tasks completed, captured through schedules and internal SoPs
• NCR investigations and RCA actions completed to agreed time frames
• All product released within 24 hours of receiving satisfactory lab results (where applicable)
Specific metrics will be set when in role and will be reviewed and built upon regularly. Alongside this, you will be supported with a PDP that will enable you to continue improving your own performance and impact.
