BALANCED ENERGY

Carbohydrates and proteins are both crucial nutrients for athletes because they support energy production, recovery, muscle growth, and overall performance (1,2). Each Energy Oat Bar delivers 40g of carbohydrates to support essential carbohydrate loading before exercise or competition, helping to optimise muscle glycogen stores. The 10g of added protein helps to meet your daily requirements and ensures you are set to take on recovery.

Current sports nutrition guidelines indicate that carbohydrate requirements for athletes’ range between 3-12 g/kg per day depending on the daily demands and training and competition schedule (3). The Energy Oat Bar provides 40g of carbohydrate per serving and represents a practical solution for athletes to consume between meals to reach their daily carbohydrate requirements. Additional it provides 10g of protein which contributes to hitting the daily protein requirements for endurance athletes of at least 1.6 g/kg per day. The Energy Oat Bar can also be consumed during prolonged low to moderate intensity training sessions and are ideal for fuelling breaks and coffee stops during long rides.

1. Carbohydrates contribute to the recovery of normal muscle function (contraction) after highly intensive and/or long-lasting physical exercise leading to muscle fatigue and the depletion of glycogen stores in skeletal muscle. The beneficial effect is obtained with the consumption of carbohydrates, from all sources, at a total intake of 4 g per kg body weight, at doses, within the first 4 hours and no later than 6 hours, following highly intensive and/or long-lasting physical exercise leading to muscle fatigue and the depletion of glycogen stores in skeletal muscle.

2. Protein contributes to the growth & maintenance of muscle mass.
