New product development
At Science in Sport we don't sit on our laurels as the leaders in sports nutrition. We're always looking for ways to improve our existing products and extend our range to offer the latest and most effective products possible. We do all our product development in house taking into account the latest research and doing our own testing too. The beginning and end of all our product development comes from the athletes we work with - we're only happy with a product if we get excellent feedback from the best athletes in the world.
SuperHydro
SuperHydro was developed after we began working with the Royal Yachting Association and their Olympic squad, including athletes such as Bryony Shaw and Ben Ainslie. They were using our Go Electrolyte but the nature of a sailing regatta means athletes can be sat on the water for hours waiting for the correct conditions for a race to start. In these hot conditions, some athletes felt they were taking on extra calories and energy that they weren't always using.
So, we continued to work away on our new product, taking more calories out, adding anti-oxidants in and still maintaining the electrolyte balance. The next product we took to the RYA was dubbed "no-cal" which mixed up with 15 calories per litre. We also took this over to a few Pro-Tour Cycling training camps to introduce the products to the riders there too, so they could benefit from added hydration during fasted training sessions. Over the next 12 months the little silver sachets started showing up everywhere, the athletes using it to train or compete on winning medal after medal in Beijing, multiple cycling races and much, much more.
